July 16, 2006

Dear Elder and Sister Morgan (& Family)-
We were so sad to have missed your phone call last night about your Visas and flight plans.  We are so glad that everything worked out and that you will hopefully be reading this at your new place in the Ukraine.  It was nice to get e-mails from you both this week and to hear how things are going.  Please don’t get discouraged, because the Lord will bless you.  You are going to be amazing missionaries.  Remember that he called you and he will make you what HE needs you to be. I just read an article from the last General Conference that made me think of you both, our missionariesJ.  Elder Scott says “Exciting fields of labor the world over allow the inspiration of the Lord to call young men and women and devoted couples to challenging assignments conditioned to each personal need and capacity.”  He goes on to say it again a little differently when he says “I am constantly amazed at how the Holy Ghost matches the characteristics and needs of each missionary and couple to the widely varying circumstances of missionary service throughout the world.”  Work hard and know that we are praying for you (ALL of us) each and every day.  It was also always comforting for me to remember that in every temple, during every session they also pray for the missionaries.  That is a whole lot of prayer power headed your way!
Well I would love to say that our first full week home was relaxing and uneventful but I don’t think that is possible with our two little kids here.  I decided that we would try to potty train Jenna.  So, on Monday the kids and I went to Wal-Mart to get all of the supplies to do the potty training all in one day.  We bought the training pants, potty doll, party supplies and apple juice. That night for FHE Jenna taught her new baby Brianna (She says it Baby BriRana, it is so cute) to go potty on the big girl potty.  When Brianna went potty we threw a big party for her.

The next day (Tuesday) we put big girl panties on Jenna and gave her lots to drink at breakfast.  It was a rough morning but after three wet accidents she started to get it.  We had lots of potty parties and parades all day with her “Dora” hats and blowers. By the next day she was doing really good and on Thursday we didn’t have one accident all day.  That is even during naptime.  We are so proud of her.  (We haven’t braved nighttime yet, but she did wake up this morning with a dry pull-up so it probably won’t be long)  She loves all of the praise and independence that this brings.  We aren’t exactly sure how to get her to go poop on the potty yet but we are working on it.  She is working so hard and praying hard too.  Something else that was really cute this week was Jenna pretending.  She just started pretending and it is really fun.  This week she wanted to pretend to be Granny and Grandma.  I was supposed to be “Grand-daughter.”  She thought this was so fun.  We even recruited Cooper to be Papa Lynn and Dad to be Cooper.  It was fun for the whole family.

As for Cooper this week he has learned a few new tricks too.  Last Sunday during church he learned how to clap and has had a lot of fun practicing this week.  He is such a snuggly little boy.  He will play and then crawl over for a little hug and kiss and then continue playing.  He also always seems to need a lot of love when he wakes up.  He can also walk along the coffee table.  He is a learning this a little faster than Jenna did.  His other new hobby is chasing Jenna around.  She gets down on the ground and says, “Come and get me, Coopa, come and get me.”  He will follow her all around the house.  It is so cute.  Sometimes he gets a hold of her hair and she doesn’t like that.  I used to think it was by accident that he would get a hold of her hair like that but now I am starting to wonderJ!  They do have a lot of fun together and it makes for some fun pictures too!

Cooper and Jenna both look forward to the weekends when “Daddy stays home to play” with them.  This weekend was unfortunately a little different because Garrett took the GMAT on Saturday.  It went well and Garrett is glad to have one under his belt.  He will probably take it again at a later date to see if he can improve his score still but it is nice to have taken it anyway.  Garrett of course made good time of the little time he had with the kids.  He and the kids made some musical instruments and started a band, read stories, and continued the potty training. Tonight Cooper had his initiation into Fort Night.  Garrett builds forts out of the cushions on the couch.   Jenna always looks forward to Fort Night so it was fun to see Cooper experience it for the first time.

Last night, was date night for Garret and I.  The young women hosted a date night of the adults in our ward. .  Since I am serving in the Young Woman’s Garrett didn’t have a date the whole evening but I tried.  We had dinner, dessert, games, and conversation while they served us and watched the kids.  After that they did a dessert auction with the desserts that they made.  We were able to raise a lot of money this way for camp and other activities.
That is about the extent of our week.  It is always an adventure but we are having an absolute BLAST!  We love being parents!  Hope you have a great week and we are looking forward to hearing from you guys in the Ukraine.

We Love ya mean it!

Garrett, Kricket, Jenna & Cooper
